RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

EPSRC-DHPA PhD Research Scholar at School of Computing, Manchester Metropolitan University

 January 2012 – Present

  • Development of software tool for automatic detection of retinal disease features in a retinal image.

  • Developed a novel retinal area detector which can automatically determine true retinal area in Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (SLO) images while avoiding artefacts.

  • Determined novel methods of automatic localisation and segmentation of glaucoma associated retinal structures in a retinal image leading to automatic determination of geometrical symptoms.

  • Developed new regional image-based features model for determining image-based patterns of different regions of retinal image which can distinguish between glaucoma and normal images.

  • Constructed the glaucoma classification model based on geometrical and regional-image based symptoms for accurate glaucoma classification à glaucoma software tool.

  • Evaluated the software tool against the public dataset of fundus images as well as SLO images annotated by the clinicians.

Research Assistant at School of Computing, Manchester Metropolitan University

May 2014 – August 2014

  • The research work is based on analyse changes associated to wheat plant diseases called Septoria tritici and Yellow Rust.

  • Currently developing image processing based methods so as to segment out image-based disease patterns from diseased wheat plant leaves.

  • Developing machine learning based methods so as to identify the disease and its severity level.

Research Assistant at Medical Imaging and Research Centre, Illinois Institute of Technology

May 2010 – December 2011

  • Analyzed the MRI images obtained from human prostate in order to determine the patterns associated with prostate cancer for non-invasive tumor localization.

  • Developed novel approach to parametric imaging so as to classify between malignant regions from benign regions of the prostate.

  • Tested and evaluated the algorithms against the reference MRI image database obtained from University Health Network, Canada.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
